Learning Intentions

Purpose
Classrooms need laughter!
A quick hit of fun!

Comedy is a subtle combination and crossing of boundaries between the meaning of words and the absurdity of visual images.  It requires an understanding of the meaning of words, images and double meanings.

This blog was started with the initial purpose of encouraging children to laugh and have fun talking and sharing their ideas in class.

It is intended to increased the level of engagement and overall contributions made by all students.

Using interesting images in this way helps to develop observation skills and visual language.  It encourages creative thinking and conversation that requires children to explain and describe what they notice.

The images are a resource that can be used to spark ideas for writing:

News report, poem, creative story, what happened next, explanation, an argument

Focused questions can be used to draw out students ideas and thinking.

Students can add comments during class time or at home. They can share their funny comments with their parents or get them to help to type one in.

By making a comment students are developing ICT literacy and keyboard skills.

Posted comments provide an excellent resource of children's actual writing errors which can be used to develop editing and proof reading skills.
